Statement by Minister Howlin on resignation of Billy Walsh
Issued 19 October 2015
Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Brendan Howlin TD, has learned with great regret that Billy Walsh has announced his resignation as Head Coach of the Irish Amateur Boxing Association (IABA) High Performance Team.
Ireland’s most successful sporting coach has brought great honour to the sport and to his country during his tenure in office.
It is most unfortunate that terms could not be agreed with the IABA to allow Billy to continue in this very important role.
I wish to thank Billy for his contribution to Irish Amateur Boxing over the last number of years and I wish him every success for the future.
